Why bacteriostatic water rather than sterile water
Plain sterile water has no preservative, so once the seal is pierced it is a single-use item. The benzyl alcohol in bacteriostatic water inhibits bacterial growth, which is what allows a 10 mL vial to be drawn from repeatedly across a working period without compromising the preparation.
For research preparations where a preservative would interfere with the assay, sterile water or a buffered diluent may be more appropriate — the choice belongs to your method.
Reconstitution technique
Wipe both stoppers, draw the required volume, and introduce the diluent slowly against the inner wall of the peptide vial so the stream does not strike the lyophilised cake directly. Swirl gently until clear; never shake, as foaming and shear stress can damage peptide structure.
Record the diluent volume against the vial's lot number so concentration can be reconstructed later from your notes.
Storage after opening
Refrigerate the vial at 2–8°C after the first draw, keep the stopper clean, and discard in line with your laboratory's own protocol.
Buying bacteriostatic water in Australia
Stock is held and dispatched from Australia, priced in AUD, with one flat $15 tracked shipping fee per order to any Australian address — no customs holds, no import charges, no zone surcharges.
Most orders pair a diluent vial with our 10-pack syringe kit so the full bench setup arrives together.
Frequently asked
Bacteriostatic Water Australia questions
How much bacteriostatic water does a peptide vial need?
The volume determines the final concentration, so it depends on your method rather than the vial. Record the volume you use against the lot number so the concentration is reproducible.
How long does bacteriostatic water last once opened?
The benzyl alcohol preservative allows repeated draws; refrigerate at 2–8°C after first use and follow your own laboratory's discard protocol.
Do you sell syringes as well?
Yes — a 10-pack syringe kit with alcohol swabs is stocked under laboratory supplies.
