01

Check your vial

Look at the label on your vial. Find the amount written in mg and enter that number into the first box.

02

Enter your water amount

Enter how many mL of bacteriostatic water you've added to your vial. This helps the calculator work out the concentration.

03

Enter your target amount

Enter your target amount in mg. The calculator automatically converts it into mL and U-100 syringe units.

04

Read your results

The results show the calculated volume and units. The gold marker on the syringe picture shows the corresponding measurement.

This calculator provides mathematical conversions only — it does not suggest or recommend doses.

Questions

Reconstitution FAQ

How do you calculate peptide concentration after reconstitution?

Divide the mass of lyophilised peptide in the vial by the volume of diluent added. A 10 mg vial reconstituted with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water gives 10 ÷ 2 = 5 mg/mL, which is 5000 mcg per mL or 50 mcg per 0.01 mL graduation on a U-100 syringe.

How much bacteriostatic water should be added to a vial?

Any volume the vial can hold works chemically — the diluent volume only sets the concentration, never the total mass of peptide. Laboratories generally choose a volume that makes the aliquot they measure fall on a clear syringe graduation, most often 1 mL, 2 mL or 3 mL for a 10 mg vial.

What do insulin syringe units mean on this calculator?

A U-100 syringe is graduated so that 100 units equal 1 mL, meaning 1 unit equals 0.01 mL. The calculator converts your target mass into both millilitres and those unit graduations so a measured aliquot can be read directly off the barrel.

How should reconstituted material be stored?

Keep lyophilised vials at -20°C until use. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, store refrigerated at 2–8°C, protect from light, and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Always confirm handling against the certificate of analysis for the specific lot.
