Product description
SS-31, also referenced in the literature as elamipretide or MTP-131, is a cell-permeable aromatic-cationic tetrapeptide widely used as a research tool for work involving cardiolipin on the inner mitochondrial membrane. Pepper Labs supplies 10 mg of lyophilised SS-31 per sealed vial, released at not less than 99% purity with a matching HPLC chromatogram and mass-spectrometry identity report held on file against the lot number. The peptide is highly water soluble and dissolves readily without co-solvents.
Research context
Research literature examines SS-31 in relation to cardiolipin binding, mitochondrial membrane potential, electron transport chain efficiency and reactive oxygen species assays in cell culture and animal models. Storage
Store sealed at -20°C, protected from light. After reconstitution hold at 2-8°C for up to 14 days or aliquot and freeze at -20°C. Protect solutions from prolonged light exposure.
Reconstitution notes
Add 2 mL bacteriostatic water slowly to the vial wall for a nominal 5 mg/mL stock. Swirl to dissolve; the solution should be clear and colourless.
